I have always believed that Music is the Universal language, it is the thread that weaves our entire civilization together. Songs serve as hallmarks of our history and as the checkpoints of our lives. Think about it. More than anything a song is a time machine that can take us back to our fondest memories and allow us to relive those moments over and over with each listen. Music is a power beyond explanation. in times of adversity, great music can motivates us to rise above anything. We are all experiencing a very challenging time right now and more than ever, we need to unite as a human family and lift each other up.

Music is a vital ingredient to achieve that unity and inspiration . If you look back at every insurmountable trial that we have faced as a people: music has always framed it and carried us through it.

America’s national anthem The Star Spangled Banner was written after Francis Scott Key witnessed the Maryland fort being bombarded during the war of 1812. Key was inspired by the sight of a lone U.S. flag still flying over Fort McHenry at daybreak, as reflected in the now-famous words “And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.” During the Civil War

At the height of World War 2 as men and women from all over the world were separated from their loved ones, the song “I’ll be seeing you” you became a huge emotional hit and brought comfort to the world at large with versions by Billie holiday, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra.

During the 1960s Sam Cooke was inspired by several disturbing events, including being turned away from a white’s only event motel in Louisiana. Cooke wrote “A Change is Gonna Come”
as an outcry about the struggle that he, and many African Americans suffered in the midst of the Civil Rights Movement. It contained the powerful line “It’s been a long time coming, but I know a change is gonna come.

Music was a powerful force for the young men fighting in Vietnam from CCR’s Fortunate Son to Barry Mcguire’s Eve of Destruction to We Gotta Get out of This Place from Eric Burdon and the Animals

In 1985 many of the greatest bands came together to raise money for the famine in Africa

And of course who could forget the great artists who came together to lift our nation after the tragedy of 9/11 in a tribute to heroes Featuring Billy Joel. U2, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crowe, and Bruce Springsteen to name just a few.
