U.S. Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., one of the nation’s most preeminent civil rights figures, died Friday night, according to reports. He was 80. The congressman had been battling pancreatic cancer. Lewis’ journey took him from protests against Jim Crow laws in the South to a long career in Congress.
